APRIL 11—It was by far the best weekend of track and field for all levels of BVI athletes so far this season.

While the junior athletes were shining at the Carifta Games in Devonshire, Bermuda, the territory’s top athletes were recording personal bests in competitions across the United States.

Within moments of each other, Morgan State Jr. Britney Wattley and Karene King traded places on the all time 100m list, as they were joined by Chantel Malone in recording personal bests during weekend competitons.

Wattley, competing at the Florida Relays in Gainesville Florida, along with Malone and Tahesia Harrigah-Scott, lowered her 100m best from 11.98 seconds to 11.79, for a short lived stay at No. 4 on the all time list.

Moments later on the West Coast, King vaulted past Wattley to become the No. 2 all time performer when she ran 11.60 in the 100m finals at the Stanford Invitational to finish third. She sliced last week’s season opening best of 11.80, with an 11.74 preliminary run.

King had her fastest 200m season debut when she ran 23.98 to finish third overall.

After winning her 400m heat in 53.11 seconds for the ninth best time of the Florida Relays, Malone dropped her 2-year 200m best from 23.97 seconds to 23.61—the third best time ever run by one of the territory’s female athletes. She ran a windy 23.64 in her first race of the season.

Harrigan-Scott made her debut in the 200m but, unfortunately, there was a timing malfunction during her race.

Central Arizona College freshman Kanishque Todman—returning from an injury—was third in her first 400m at the Mesa Classic, in 1:02.55.

Teammate Keron Stoute was third in the High Jump, after clearing 1.97m.
