MAY 21— Ravindra Sukhu shook off Adrian Dale while conquering the Paraquita Bay Beast, to win Saturday’s fourth race of the Blenheim Trust 5K Series tour of Tortola.
Sukhu held off Dale’s charge after the 2-mile mark and took control on the off road segment of the south HLSCC campus known as “the Beast” to win in 21 minutes and 24 seconds. Dale placed second in 21:44 while Zebalon McLean—hobbled by a softball injury—was third in 24:11.
Sukhu’s victory sets up an interesting showdown in the finale on June 2. McLean has won two races—including besting Sukhu at the line in Carrot Bay—but a victory by Sukhu in the finale would sent it to a tie breaker.
Nimade Oniasih was the fastest woman on the course placing fifth overall in 24:47, to lock up the title with three first placed finishes. She was followed by Philomena “Philo” Robertson in 25:28 and Kay Reddy, in 26:26.
