Mainland's Kevin Antczak Commits To North Carolina State

Kevin Antczak of Mainland, one of the top distance runners in the country, announced on Saturday that he has committed to North Carolina State University.

Antczak, who also visited Temple, Penn State, and Georgetown, is having a sensational cross-country season this fall. He won the Cape Atlantic League Championship in 15:54, finished first at the Atlantic County Championships in 15:34, and won his race at the Shore Coaches Invitational at Holmdel Park in 15:32!

Antczak's 15:32 shaved 29 seconds off his previous Holmdel PR when he placed 8th at the M of C last year, broke the Mainland school record, the Atlantic County record, and is the second fastest time in South Jersey history behind only the legendary Jason DiJoseph of Paul VI, who ran a then course record 15:16 in 1988.

The 15:32 broke the Atlantic County record of 15:35 set in 2013 by Lou Corgliano of Hammonton, and the Mainland record of 15:39 run by Greg Hughes when he took second at the 2003 M of C behind Mohamad Khadraoui of Paterson Kennedy.

On the track, Antczak has personal bests of 9:09.38 for 3,200 and 4:19.65 for 1,600.
