Two Event Titles and Three School Records Cap Final Day at Big Sky Championship

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Dominique Maloney broke the Portland State all-time record for the women's 400-meters while the women's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams also set Portland State all-time records at the 2012 Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Bozeman, Mont. . The women's team finished seventh overall with 71 points while the men's team finished eighth with 15 points.
 
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Sierra Brooks, Geronne Black, Anaiah Rhodes and Jazmin Ratcliff broke the Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championship record with a time of 45.19 to win the event. Their time is also the Portland State record besting the previous record by just 0.05 seconds.
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay team also broke the Portland state record. The team of Rhodes, Brooks, Ashley Frazier and Maloney ran a time of 3:47.75 to set the Portland State mark.
 
Black won the women's 100-meter dash for the second time in her career Saturday when she posted a time of 11.66 in the event finals to claim her title. Black has led the Big Sky Conference all season in the event and was the front runner coming into the championship.
 
Black posted a Big Sky all-time record time of 11.52 earlier this season and came into the championship ranked 15th in the NCAA West Region. She also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a finals time of 24.49 which is just 0.01 seconds off her career best time that she set during the prelims.
 
Brooks finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.89 while Rhodes and Ratcliff finished fourth and sixth respectively.
 
Ashley Frazier finished fourth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.12 while Sarah Hanchett finished fifth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:13.38. Hanchett added a time of 4:43.28 in the 1,500-meters to finish ninth overall.
 
Maloney set the all-time Portland State record in the women's 400-meters with a time of 55.32. The previous record time of 55.67 was set by Chantae Watson in 2006.
 
Ali Super finished sixth in the women's javelin with a distance of 140-08 (42.89m) which places her third all-time at Portland State. Mandy Keifer also move up the all-time list to fifth with her mark of 134-00 (40.84m).
 
Montaisha Moore improved on her fourth all-time ranking with a distance of 38-03.50 (11.67m) in the women's triple jump while Shae Carson finished 13th in the women's discus and Hanna Johnson finished ninth in the women's shot put.
 
Amber Rozcicha finished 12th in the women's 5,000-meters with a time of 18:32.73 while Brandy Castillo finished 17th overall with a time of 20:23.16.
 
On the men's side, Jake Ovgard moved to sixth all-time at Portland State in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.78 to finish sixth in the event finals. He added a seventh place finish in the 200-meter finals with a time of 21.92.
 
Sean Mackelvie finished ninth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 44-06.75 (13.58m) while John Lawrence finished 10th overall in the men's 1,500-meters with a time of 4:02.32.
 
Senior Jaret Rockenbach finished 14th in the men's shot put with a distance of 47-11.00 (14.60m).
 
The teams now wait to see who will be invited to the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas May 24-26. For individual events, the top-48 in each region, east and west, will advance to the NCAA Regional.
