MAY 22—At least six Carifta Games individual medalists and numerous finalists from the sub region will renew their rivalries on June 9-10, when the BVI Athletics Association hosts the Leeward Islands Jr. Championships.

JUNE 6—Anguilla’s IAAF World Jr. Championships qualifier Zarnel Hughes, the Carifta Games U20 Boys 100m bronze medalist, will be leading the field lighting up the track in the event during Saturday and Sunday’s Leeward Islands Jr. Championships at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds.

JUNE 10—Meet and All Comers Records tumbled during Day I of the Leeward Islands Jr. Championships, which are being staged for the first time since they were held in the British Virgin Islands in 2008.

Leeward Islands Jr. Champs Ends With 17 Records Falling Jun 11, 2012

JUNE 11—At Sunday’s conclusion of the 2012 Leeward Islands Jr. Track and Field Championships, the 17th meet record fell when hosts British Virgin Islands’ Under 20 Boys 4x400m relay quartet of Tarique Moses, Shaquoy Stephens, Kyron McMaster and Khari Herbert, broke the meet record and a 20-year old All Comers Record with a new National Jr. Record time of 3 minutes, 17.00 seconds, for the ninth record of the day. BVI athletes accounted for nine of the 17 records.
