JANUARY 24—Participants interested in competing in the second leg of the 2012 Gatorade Development Series on Saturday, January 28, must complete registration by 5 p.m. this afternoon.

Association officials pointed out that there will be no race day registration on Saturday.

The meet begins with field events at 9 a.m. with the open Javelin Throw and Under 15 through Open Divisions High Jump. Long Jump for Under 15 through Open Division starts at 10 a.m.

Competitors for all track (running) events must be declared as competing by 9:30 a.m. and any registered persons not competing must be scratched by 9:30 a.m. Declarations or scratches can be made by the athlete or a designated person representing the athlete whether it’s the club administrator or coach.

Running events will start at 11 a.m., with the 100m Hurdles targeting Under 17 and Open female athletes, followed by the 150m for Under 9 and Under 11 male and females. The 200m targets Under 13 through Open and the program closes with the Under 11 through Open Division 800m.

Starting with the February 11 meet, there will be a $1.00 registration fee for all athletes competing in a developmental meet.

Meanwhile, the BVI Athletics Association has scheduled a meeting with athletes’ parents and guardians for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Elmore Stoutt High School’s Lecture Room 2.

New policies coming on stream with effect from the February 11 Gatorade Development Series meet will be among items discussed at the meeting.
