Ashley Kelly Grab 2nd Placed Finishes in Miami Invitational

Ashley Kelly starts the 400m @ the 2012 NACAC U23 Championships

MARCH 26—Stiff winds robbed birthday girl Ashley Kelly of a 200m personal best as she grabbed two second placed finishes in Saturday’s Miami Invitational, on the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables.

Kelly rode a +3.8 mps wind in the 200m to finish second behind Athens 2004 Olympic Games 100m champion Lauryn Williams. Kelly ran 23.23 seconds behind Williams’ 22.69. Tahesia Harrigan-Scott—working on her speed endurance—was fourth in 23.41.

Kelly also finished second the 100m in 11.72 seconds.

King 2nd in Lewis & Clark sprints

Karene King was 2nd in both sprints in Saturday’s Lewis and Clarke 100 and 200m. She had times of 12.14/24.44 seconds respectively, in both events.

Wattley improve marks

Morgan State Sr. Britney Wattley, won her 100m heat in a season’s best of 12.23 seconds, in the weather affected Robert Johnson Bulldogs Relays in South Carolina State on Saturday. Bad weather cancelled the finals.

Competing in the 20th annual Weems Baskin Invitational 200m hosted by the University of South Carolina, she had a time of 25.82 seconds, good for eight overall.
