Wattley Contesting MEAC Championships Sprint Double Today

 

Brittney Wattley has run 100/200m personal bests of 11.79/23.88 this season

MAY 5—Morgan State Jr. Britney “Brito” Wattley will face the starters gun twice today in the finals of the MEAC Championships 100 and 200m.

The championships are being held in Greensboro, North Carolina on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.

Wattley who ran a personal best of 11.79 seconds earlier this season and has a wind aided 11.70 to her credit, finished third in her 100m heat on Friday, after running 11.92 into a -3.3 headwind.

On Thursday, she advanced to today’s 200m final, when she dipped under the 24.00 seconds barrier for the first time in her career when she ran 23.88 to win her heat with a .09 mps tailwind.

Heading into the MEAC Championships she had a windy 24.22 in her last outing after running an outdoor best of 24.52 in Tallahassee, Florida, last month. Wattley has run her fastest 200m times this season since 2008, in the process of  winning the Elmore Stoutt High School Victrix Ludorum , when she ran 24.55 seconds.
