Huggins Equals 200m Best en Route to CAC Jr. Championships Final

Eldred Henry broke the National Jr. Boys Shot Put Record with a heave of 16.32m ((53’6 ½”) to highlight the Boys' performances so far

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, JUNE 30—Nelda Huggins equaled her 200m personal best during the morning session of the XIX Central American and Caribbean Jr. Track and Field Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Huggins—coming off a100m silver medal in the U18 Girls division last night—placed second in her heat behind Jamaica’s Saqukine Cameron whom she bested in the century. Cameron ran 24.21 to Huggins’ 24.56—a time that’s merely .01 off Britney Wattley’s National Scholastic Record.

The Bahamas Carmeisha Cox who beat Huggins for the 100m title last night, positioned herself for a double by taking the first heat in an eased up 24.67 time.

J’Maal Alexander had a non advancing 21.99 seconds run to place 5th in the U20 Boys 200m.

Tynelle Gumbs settled for fifth place in the U18 Girls Javelin Throw, with a best toss of the 500Kg spear out to 36.02m (118’2”).

Kyron McMaster narrowly missed his High Jump personal best of 1.86m (6’1¼”) with a 1.85m (6’0¾”) clearance.
