Farley, Kinkead Notch Another Victory on Beef Island Dean Greenaway Oct 13, 2014

OCTOBER 13— Repeating their success from the Beef Island 10k earlier in the road racing season, Julius Farley and tender teenager Tallulah Kinkead led a fast field in Saturday’s Ceres Juices 10K Series tour stop at Trellis Bay, Beef Island.  Dubbed the “Steel Man Warm up” the course comprised three laps of the Eastern tip of Beef Island over rolling terrain.

AUGUST 1—Chantel Malone had the best place finish by a BVI athlete in its history of Commonwealth Games competition when she finished fourth in the Long Jump on Thursday night as the territory’s athletes wrapped up competition in Glasgow, Scotland, in the XX editing of the event.

JULY 26—Nelda Huggins became the second British Virgin Islands female athlete to advance to the semifinal of an IAAF World Jr. Championships sprint event in the territory’s history, when she reached Thursday’s 200m semifinal.

JULY 21—James Farley and Tallulah Kinkead were the respective winners in Saturday’s Ceres Juices 10K Series tour stop on Beef Island, which turned out to be an extra mile adventure for participants as the original course was scrapped because of on going works in East End and two laps were run on Beef Island.

MAY 6—As officials gear up for the 3rd Virgin Gorda Half Marathon and 6 Miles Challenge by rolling out a tougher segment of the course, making it the most challenging race in the British Virgin Islands, they could not have asked for a better tune up than Saturday’s Dive BVI 10K Series race.
