JULY 16—Ravi Sukhu won his second successive race in the Ceres Juices 10K Series on Saturday, taking the race that started and ended at Long Bay Beach, Beef Island, in 41 minutes and 34 seconds.
JULY 14—The British Virgin Islands joined Jamaica and Barbados as the only English speaking Caribbean countries to earn a medal in the 8th IAAF World Youth Championships that wrapped up today in Donetsk, Ukraine, when the Medley Relay quartet earned silver behind the United States in a NACAC 1-2 finish.
MORELIA, Mexico, JULY 8—British Virgin Islands athletes wrapped up their tenure in the 24th Central American and Caribbean Track and Field Championships in Morelia, Mexico on Sunday, with Chantel Malone and Kerene King placing fourth and fifth respectively in the Long Jump and 200m events.
MORELIA, Mexico; JULY 6—In her first Heptathlon in 2-years, Kanishque “Kadi” Todman—not in her best condition after overcame injuries and adversity—improved her National Record in the seven discipline to place sixth in the 24th Central American and Caribbean Sr. Championships in Morelia, Mexico which wraps up on Sunday.
JULY 3—Five athletes—including two bound for the IAAF World Championships in Moscow in August—will represent the British Virgin Islands at the 2013 CAC Sr. Championships in Morella, Mexico, July 5-7.
JULY 2—A record seven athletes—four of them 2013 Carifta Games medalists— will represent the British Virgin Islands at the 8th IAAF World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine, July 10-14, BVI Athletics Association officials announced. The Athletes will attend a pre championships camp July 4-8.
JULY 1—Following two days of spirited competition in five Pentathlon events at the 15th CAC Age Group Championships in Willemstad, Curacao, the British Virgin Islands’ Beyonce DeFreitas earned the 11-12 Girls Division bronze medal, after amassing 2,770 points—three shy of Bermuda’s Zekiah Lewis’ silver medal total—in the field of 38 participants.
JUNE 25—Arianna Hayde and J’Nae Wong will lead eight British Virgin Islands athletes to the 15th CAC Age Group Championships in Willemstad Curacao, June 29 and 30. The championships were first held in Curacao in 1985.
JUNE 24—Sprinter Karene King became the third British Virgin Islands athlete to qualify for the Aug 10-18, IAAF World Championships in Moscow Russia, when she hit the mark in the prelims of the 200m on Sunday afternoon during the Trinidad and Tobago National Championships.
JUNE 18—Ravi Sukhu and his training partner NiMande Oniasih, kicked off the Ceres Juices 10K Series with victories on Saturday. The series runs through November and is a lead up to the 8th BVI Half Marathon.
JUNE 10—British Virgin Islands sprinter Karene King and Ashley Kelly finished first and second in the 3rd OECS Invitational 200m held in Basseterre, St. Kitts on Sunday night, in a series of wind aided races, where other BVI athletes also climbed the podium.
JUNE 6—Fresh off competing in the inaugural BVI Twilight Invitational and the Leeward Islands Jr. Invitational over the weekend, sprinters Karend King and Ashley Kelly, will lead six athletes in action on Sunday in the OECS Invitational in St. Kitts.
UNE 5--An emotional Raheem “Ras” Taylor and Katrina Crumpler brought the curtains down on the 2013 Blenheim Trust 5K Series tour of Tortola with victories on Saturday, in the race held in Road Town.
JUNE 3—Like the BVI Twilight Invitational on which it was the under card, there was exciting action in the Leeward Jr. Invitational segment, which saw nine meet records fall and the establishing of another, in the gathering of U20 athletes with the British Virgin Islands hosting athletes from neighboring U.S. Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, Dominica, Guadeloupe and Martinique.
JUNE 2—St. Kitts and Nevis’ sprint veteran Kim Collins returned to the British Virgin Islands to compete for the first time in 19 years and highlighted the listing of six All Comers Records falling in the inaugural BVI Twilight Invitational, before a capacity crowd at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds.
MAY 28—Athens 2004 Olympic Games champion Jeremy Wariner of the USA, will highlight the 400m in Saturday’s inaugural British Virgin Islands Twilight Invitational at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds on Tortola.
MAY 27—Threats of inclement weather which hampered Friday’s opening day turnout gave way to sunny sky on Saturday morning and a look at the future, as Under 15 athletes from 16 schools competed in the BVI Youth Championships which also marked the IAAF World Athletics Day celebrations.

MAY 22—Three successive meets, beginning with the BVI Youth Championships Friday—which doubles as World Athletics Day—will lead to the close of the 2013 domestic track and field season.
MAY 21—James Carr was engaged in a spirited battled with Jacques Roux after they broke from the field, before he went on to demolish Maxford Pipe’s course record established during last year’s inaugural event, to win the 2nd Dive BVI Virgin Gorda Half Marathon on Saturday.
MAY 19—Khari “KJ” Herbert won the 400m at Saturday’s 37th Golden South Classic in Orlando, Florida, while Kyron McMaster was fourth with a time that improved his National Scholastic Record in the event, leading four athletes to career best performances.
MAY 14—It really isn’t over till its over. Midway through Saturday’s Blenheim Trust 5K Series in Paraquita Bay, on the famed course known as “The Beast”—an uphill climb less than 800m to go—series leader James Carr had resigned himself to thinking there’s no way he could win.
MAY 13—Portland State Vikings Sr. Dominique Maloney closed out her collegiate career by achieving another goal during the 2013 Big Sky Conference Championships on her home turf.
MAY 10—Lettsome House’s Intermediate Girls Nelda Huggins took sole possession of the 5-year old 200m National Scholastic and National Youth Records she shared with Britney Wattley, highlighting the parade of 15 championships records established at Friday’s closing of the 42nd Elmore Stoutt Inter-House Championships.
MAY 8—Nelda Huggins—the territory top Jr. female sprinter—broke a slew of records in winning the Intermediate Girls 100m dash on Day I of the 42nd Elmore Stoutt High School Inter-House Sports Day Championships today.
MAY 6—There were over 30 women and men—who dressed like women for the cause—the FSN Charity 5K Run on Saturday.
MAY 5—Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Jr. Keron Stoute, set himself up nicely for the territory’s inaugural Collegiate Performer of the Year Award to be doled out later this year, after securing second place finished in the MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Decathlon and Open High Jumps, during the competition held at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina.
MAY 1—The U.S. and British Virgin Islands’ top female sprinters Laverne Jones-Ferrette and Tahesia Harrigan-Scott are good friends, mothers of a daughter and a son and also 100m rivals.
APRIL 29—Portland State Vikings Sr. Dominique Maloney and American Heritage High School Sr. Khari Herbert notched 400m personal bests in competitions in California and Florida respectively on Saturday.
APRIL 21—For the fourth time in her career, British Virgin Islands sprinter Tahesia Harrigan-Scott has qualified for the IAAF World Championships in the 100m dash.
